How ActiveHub works
Good advice starts with understanding the business question properly—not with choosing a technology in advance.
You bring us the problem, opportunity or decision. We establish what needs to be understood, investigate the relevant evidence, and give you a clear recommendation about what we believe you should do next.
Clear scope. Independent investigation. Practical recommendations.
Start with the problem—not the technology
You do not need to arrive with a solution already chosen.
The starting point can simply be something in the business that needs to be understood, improved or decided.
A process that consumes too much time
You know work is inefficient or repetitive, but you do not yet know whether the answer is process improvement, automation, AI or something simpler.
An AI opportunity you want to evaluate
You have an idea but want to know whether the expected value justifies the effort, cost and risk.
A supplier proposal you need to challenge
You have been offered software, automation or another solution and want an independent view before committing.
Uncertainty about existing AI use
Employees may already be using AI, but management does not have a clear picture of how, where or with what risks.
Several competing priorities
There are multiple possible initiatives, but limited time, budget and management capacity.
A need for overall direction
You know AI and automation matter to the business but need clarity about where to start and what should happen next.
The technology is part of the answer only when it is the right answer to the business problem.
How the work progresses
The exact work depends on the engagement, but the underlying method remains consistent.
We begin by understanding the question in its business context.
What are you trying to achieve or decide? How does the situation work today? Who is involved? Which systems matter? What constraints need to be respected? What would a useful outcome look like?
This gives the engagement a clear decision objective before detailed analysis begins.
We gather and examine the information needed to answer the question properly.
Depending on the engagement, that can include processes, systems, existing AI use, supplier proposals, costs, risks, documents, possible solutions, business data and relevant external research.
We investigate what is relevant to the decision rather than following a fixed consulting checklist.
We compare the realistic options against the criteria that matter to your business.
That can include business value, feasibility, cost, complexity, readiness, risk, supplier dependency, existing capabilities and the amount of human judgement required.
This is where evidence becomes expert judgement.
We bring the analysis together and tell you what we believe you should do.
The recommendation explains what we found, what matters, the trade-offs involved, why we prefer one course of action over another, and what should happen next.
Where the right answer is to wait, simplify, use what you already have or do nothing, that can be the recommendation too.
We need enough context to make the recommendation useful
Good consulting depends on understanding enough of the real situation to make a sound judgement.
What we need varies with the engagement.
Management priorities
What matters to the business, and what are you trying to improve, protect or decide?
Existing processes
How is the work actually performed today, including the parts that may differ from the documented process?
Existing systems
Which software, tools and information sources are already in place?
Relevant people
Who performs the work, understands the issue or owns the decision?
Existing proposals or material
What suppliers, tools, options, documents or ideas have already been considered?
Practical constraints
What budget, capacity, timing, risk tolerance or other limitations need to shape the recommendation?
We ask for what is relevant to the decision—not information for the sake of creating a larger consulting process.
You should know what we recommend when the engagement ends
Analysis is useful only when it leads to a clearer decision.
The exact deliverable depends on the engagement, but ActiveHub's work is designed to answer practical management questions.
What did we find?
A clear view of the relevant facts, opportunities, problems, limitations or risks.
What matters?
Which findings deserve management attention and which are less important.
What should you do?
Our recommended course of action and the reasoning behind it.
What should you not do?
Where spending, automation, AI adoption or further work is unlikely to justify the cost, complexity or risk.
Why?
The business logic, evidence and trade-offs behind the recommendation.
What happens next?
The practical action, decision, preparation, validation or supplier step required from here.
Depending on the engagement, the output may take the form of an assessment, recommendation, comparison matrix, opportunity map, risk framework, supplier evaluation, strategic roadmap or next-step action plan.
The engagement should end with a decision you understand—not simply with analysis you have to interpret yourself.
Advice and implementation remain separate
ActiveHub helps you determine what should happen.
We do not need to be the company that builds it afterwards.
No implementation dependency
Our recommendation is complete even if ActiveHub performs no further work.
You are not buying the first stage of a larger implementation project from us.
You remain free to choose
You can take the recommendation forward using your existing provider, select another supplier, handle the work internally, defer it, or decide not to proceed.
We can remain involved without becoming the implementer
Where useful, ActiveHub can continue to provide independent expertise by reviewing proposals, participating in selected discussions, challenging assumptions, reviewing results and helping management make subsequent decisions.
We do not develop software, build automations, configure platforms, install systems or operate the solution on your behalf.
Keeping advice and implementation separate allows the recommendation to remain focused on what is right for your business.
What happens after the recommendation?
The next step depends on what the evidence says—not on our need to create more work.
Stop there
The question has been answered and no further ActiveHub involvement is needed.
Act internally
Your team can take the recommendation forward using the people, processes and systems already available to you.
Engage the right supplier
If implementation requires external expertise, you can select the appropriate provider and use the recommendation to guide the work.
Keep ActiveHub involved
Where decisions continue over time, Ongoing AI & Automation Expertise can provide independent input as priorities, suppliers, results and circumstances evolve.
Continuing involvement is an option when it adds value—not a requirement built into the engagement.
Start with the question you need answered
You do not need to design the consulting engagement before contacting us.
Tell us what you are trying to understand, decide or improve.
We will help determine the appropriate next step, define the scope where needed, and make sure you know what you are committing to before the work begins.
Independent AI and automation expertise for small and medium businesses.
